A new-style exhibition of landscape paintings by artist Fay Collins has been launched online by the Northern Lights Gallery in Keswick.
The COVID-19 coronavirus lockdown restrictions meant that Tim Fisher, who owns the gallery in St John’s Street, was forced to think on his feet and move Fay’s exhibition online – which has proved a great success.
Tim said: “Just 24hrs before the launch time, over a thousand emails went out to what seems to be a more attentive audience, which in turn resulted in more online sales than ever on a first day of any exhibition at our gallery.
“Prior to the launch, there was a comprehensive five-day build up on social media and the results stand as a testament to both Fay’s craft and people’s likelihood to be enjoying more screen time.”
Fay, who lives in the north west, paints mainly wild coast, dramatic mountain and managed rural land pictures taking her inspiration from places like the Lake District, Morecambe Bay and the Bowland Hills. She turns her images and thoughts into studio-based sketches then uses mostly oils “for their versatile consistency and rich, vibrant colours” to create her paintings.
