Children’s groups in the Keswick area have benefitted to the tune of more than £1,000 following the success of the Keswick’s Own Christmas Proms event organised by the town’s Rotary Club in December last year.
The annual event support local good causes each year and Keswick Scout Group was the main beneficiary for 2020. The group is looking to raise a considerable sum of money to refurbish Ashness Hut in Borrowdale and the donation from Keswick Rotary Club will go towards the fund.
A further donation was made to Keswick Girlguiding to assist with the costs of an adventure day out planned for later this year. Smaller sums were also handed out to Brownie and Rainbow groups in Keswick and Threlkeld. The donations add to financial help given to the Scouts and Guides groups by Keswick Rotary Club in recent years.
Rotary Club members are already planning this year’s event which is scheduled to be held on Sunday 13th December at its usual venue at Theatre by the Lake in Keswick.
Organisers have committed to making it “a more Christmassy event” with the inclusion of a fun on-stage Christmas Jumper competition which will be open to any member of the audience.
