Plans have been submitted to create a permanent hot food takeaway at the Salutation Inn at Threlkeld.
The proposed alterations are to “maintain the viability of the business” according to a statement with the application to the Lake District National Park Authority.
Proposed external alterations at the popular pub, known as The Sally, include partial demolition and the provision of a hot food takeaway service from the existing kitchen facilities.
The proposal seeks to improve the rear doorway as a more appropriate principle entrance to the public bars by part -demolition and reorganisation of the current service yard area, including the removal of a static caravan and fencing.
It seeks consent for the provision of a hot food take away to be provided by a serving hatch to replace the current window directly into the existing kitchen and facing the car park.
A slate canopy roof is detailed for the corner of the building above the new hatch location.
“The take-away service has been operated from the pub through the coronavirus restrictions and has proved a successful addition” the planning statement adds.
