Concerns about users of the newly-opened Keswick to Threlkeld Trail not sticking to social distancing guidelines has prompted the police and the Lake District National Park Authority to take action.
Officers are increasing patrols on the path while signs have also been erected to remind people that they must keep their distance to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Sergeant Scott Adams, of Allerdale police, said “The Keswick to Threlkeld walk has been a popular attraction since it opened in September.
“Following concerns raised around social distancing officers and partners from the Lake District National Park Authority will be working together to ensure social distancing.
“Signage is in place to remind people to socially distance on the trail.
“We would also remind people that as we’re now in a national lockdown, they should follow the latest government guidelines and exercise locally.”
