A senior firefighter in Cumbria has warned the public to be aware of the dangers of water as lockdown restrictions easing joins with warmer temperatures.
Craig Drinkald, area manager at Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service, tweeted: “With lockdown easing and lighter nights people will be outdoors more.
“Cumbria Fire are asking you all to #bewateraware. The lakes are still cold and the rivers run fast.
“Every year people lose their lives in water, please be careful.”
Today’s high temperatures, according to the Met Office, are as follows:
- Barrow – 14 degrees
- Carlisle – 13 degrees
- Kendal – 15 degrees
- Keswick – 14 degrees
- Penrith – 15 degrees
- Workington – 11 degrees
