Theatre by the Lake has announced its first major production for 2021.
Home I’m Darling by Laura Wade will be staged in the autumn in a co-production with Stephen Joseph Theatre and Bolton Octagon.
It is a second outing for the comedy which packed houses at the National Theatre/Theatr Clywd when it debuted in 2018 and will be directed by Theatre by the Lake’s artistic director Liz Stevenson.
The theatre will open in the autumn with a schedule of other events due to be announced in the summer.
A spokesman said: “Building on the enormous success of our ‘Spark’ programme, we’ll continue to offer digital performances as well as some exciting outdoor activities over the summer months.”
Tickets for Home I’m Darling will go on sale by the summer alongside further programming announcements.
Liz and executive director James Cobbold said: “We’re thrilled to be able to share the news of our first major production, we can’t wait to welcome audiences back through our doors.
“We’re delighted to be producing this wonderfully funny play with two fantastic northern theatres and look forward to sharing more about our future programme soon.”
“We’d like to thank the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund whose support this year has made it possible for us to keep going and reopen.
“We are hugely grateful to Arts Council England, our staff, board, volunteers, friends, sponsors, supporters, and audiences without whose support over this past year we would quite simply not been able to survive.”
Last week, it was announced that the theatre had received £87,699 from the Culture Recovery Fund.
