Motorists using a busy Keswick town centre route will face disruption this week because of a temporary road closure.
Derwent Street will be shut for up to five days from today from its junction with St John’s Street at the Alhambra Cinema.
The closure is to allow BT Openreach to carry out repairs.
It will mean a longer trip round the town centre for many drivers, especially those heading for the Borrowdale valley.
The one-way traffic restriction on Borrowdale Road from the roundabout to Derwent Street will be suspended during the work, largely to allow access for residents and shop owners in the area.
Meanwhile, a temporary closure will be introduced today in Grizedale Close, Keswick until May 14.
