Firefighters are tackling a large wildfire blaze at Whinlatter Forest, near Keswick.
The fire is across an area of 500sq meters in open scrub land and nine fire engines are at the scene.
Fire crews were called at 11.55am to a fire on a steep embankment.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service say no one is at risk.
Six fire engines are currently in attendance, including three wildfire specialist units.
Cumbria police is asking motorists to avoid nearby roads and people are urged to stay away from the area.
