Fire crews spent several hours tackling a blaze in Whinlatter Forest, near Keswick, yesterday.
The fire was across an area of 500 sq m on a steep embankment and six fire engines were called to help stop the blaze spreading.
They were supported by the Forestry Commission, Cumbria police and other agencies.
Fire crews were called at 11.55am and officials said no one was at risk.
