One of Keswick’s most popular events of the year has been cancelled because of the pandemic.
Scruffs dog show was due to be held in Fitz Park on Sunday June 27.
Last year’s event was lost to COVID — and Scruffs 2021 has now gone the same way.
“Following an events meeting with the town council this week, we’ve decided to cancel Keswick Scruffs again for 2021,” said Chris Harper, from Podgy Paws pet shop in Tithebarn Street.
“We felt that all the businesses that support the show need time to get back on their feet.
“We expect everyone to be very busy this summer and that’s where everyone’s focus needs to be,” said Chris, who added that the event would “come back bigger and stronger” next year.
The show is organised by volunteers, led by Keswick Town Council’s events committee.
It is part of Keswick Midsummer Festival, whose other events — live music in Market Square and a proms concert in Fitz Park – have already been cancelled.
