An 83-year-old man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a crash on the A66.
Emergency services attended a two-vehicle collision on the A66 near Troutbeck at 12.40pm yesterday.
The road was closed between Crosthwaite Roundabout (Keswick) and Slapestones Roundabout (Rheged) for a number of hours.
The vehicles involved were a Ford Transit van with two passengers, who both suffered minor injuries. Both were treated at the scene.
The driver was a 24-year-old man from the Appleby area.
In the other vehicle, a Ford B-Max from the Manchester area, there were two elderly people. The driver, an 83-year-old man, was airlifted to Royal Victoria Hospital with serious injuries. The passenger was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.
