Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to announce the final phase of England’s roadmap out of coronavirus lockdown later today.
Mr Johnson said although the pandemic was not over, and cases would continue to rise, the announcement would “set out how we can restore people’s freedoms”.
The complete relaxation of lockdown restrictions will only go ahead from July 19, the Government said, if its four tests had been met.
These are:
- The vaccine rollout
- Vaccine effectiveness
- Hospital admissions
- New virus variants
These will be confirmed on July 12 following a review of the latest data.
The findings of reviews on the use of vaccine passports and social distancing are also due to be announced by Mr Johnson.
Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick said on Sunday that England would move to a period without legal restrictions and with an emphasis on personal responsibility, including on face masks, the BBC reported.
