Cumbrian athlete Oliver Dustin has failed to qualify for the semi-finals of the 800 metres at the Tokyo Olympics.
The 20-year-old former Keswick School pupil could only manage sixth place in the second of today’s six heats.
Dustin, who had gone to the Games in great form after beating a long-established record of Seb Coe’s, only clocked 1:46.94 when he had recently established a personal best of 1:43.82.
But Great Britain will have two runners in tomorrow’s semi-finals as Elliot Giles and Daniel Rowden both got through their respective heats.
