A group of Scots pine trees in the garden of a home in Bassenthwaite have been taken down because they were in a “dangerous” condition.
The trees, which were in The Old Smithy, on Castle Hill, were not protected with a tree preservation order.
The owner of the building is Barry Brown, and his daughter Janine said that the trees were not in a good condition, and that they became concerned after a branch crashed down into the road during high winds.
She added: “The concern was that it could have caused a very nasty accident or even fatality had the branch come down on a car passing in the road, or could have badly damaged the house had it fallen the other way.”
