A couple holidaying in the Lake District have praised the prompt actions of Keswick Town Council in swiftly remedying a dangerous problem.
David Peel contacted The Keswick Reminder to say his wife Linda “almost came a cropper” in her wheelchair while on the wooden walkway between Crow Park Road and Hope Park on Monday.
The Staffordshire couple told a man who they did not know at the time was Hope Park gardener Kevin Gibbons.
Mr Gibbons said: “All the council needed to do was put a bit of gravel down to remove the ‘lip’ where the wooden boards met the metalled path.”
Mr Peel said: “Today (Tuesday) we noticed the problem had been fixed.
“Absolutely brilliant service, very well done everyone involved.
“This is what local authorities should be like everywhere. Sadly, I don’t think they are.”
Town clerk Vivien Little said Mr Gibbons had reported it to park manager Christine Fawcett.
“I am glad that staff at Hope Park are able to react as quickly and be as helpful. It is what you should expect from a council,” said Ms Little.
