No information has so far been received by the county council in relation to the Government’s plans to temporarily place a cap on single bus journeys.
Councillor Roger Liddle raised queries about the scheme at a full council meeting yesterday.
The Department for Transport on Saturday announced up to £60 million in funding to support a limit on bus fare costs between January and March of next year.
Cllr Keith Little, cabinet member for highways and transport, responded to Cllr Liddle at the meeting.
He said: “At this present time, Cumbria County Council, as a transport authority, has received no information from government at all. We have seen some letters but they have not contacted us with the details.”
