A craft spirits merchant with an outlet in the centre of Keswick has opened up a new tasting room.
The space has been set up in the Main Street premises of Kindred Spirits which also has shops in Beverley, Ambleside.
“It has been designed to offer an authentic and enlightening journey through the world of craft spirits,” said business development manager Leigh Taylor. “The tasting room promises to be a memorable activity for anyone seeking something a little different to do, while in Keswick.
“This exciting addition aims to immerse enthusiasts in a sensory journey of the spirits celebrated in our shops, drawing inspiration from the stories behind the products and distilleries they partner with.
“Whether it’s gin, rum or whisky, you can immerse yourself in specific events focussing on your liquid of choice, providing a space where you can savour and appreciate the craftsmanship, heritage and stories behind each spirit.”
Kindred Spirits owners Tasha and Ollie Barker said: “We’re thrilled to be opening the doors to our tasting room here in Keswick, sharing our passion for exceptional distillers and spirits with the general public, enthusiasts and connoisseurs alike.
“The tasting room is a tribute to the rich history and artistry of British craft spirits, providing a platform for people to discover and deepen their appreciation for a variety of spirits.”
The first tasting events will launch around Halloween, with both distiller led and themed events to come throughout November and December.
l Meanwhile, a small distillery in the heart of the Lake District is making big moves in the world of craft spirit production.
Sales of Grasmere Distillery’s gin products, Dry, Blood Orange and Pink Berry, are soaring making them the fastest growing craft spirit brand in the Lake District.
The development is all the more remarkable because the distillery only began selling their gins to other stockists at the start of this year.
In a short eight month period there has been a surge in sales from a modest three bottles in January to more than 400 bottles in August. The gins are now available at over 40 locations across Cumbria and the achievement has delighted distillery owners, Paul and Beth Abbott.
