Two paddleboarders were rescued from Derwentwater after they were swept into the lake.
The alarm was raised this afternoon by people near the lake and emergency services including police and the fire service attended.
Allerdale Police said: “Two paddleboarders were swept off their boards by the current and winds on the lake.
“Scarily, the two individuals were without life vests and suitable, warm clothing!
“You should always take precautions when venturing out on open water, going without can cost you your life and that of your rescuers.”
Officers thanked the people who raised the alarm and workers from Nichol End Marina and the Derwentwater Launch who helped.
