New parking arrangements are to come into force at the Booths store in Keswick starting from today (April 22).
Number plate recognition cameras have been introduced in the supermarket’s car park and will become active next week.
A Booths spokesperson said: “We’re aware that some shoppers have found it difficult to find a parking space at Booths in Keswick, so to ensure that customers have a better opportunity to park, we’ve introduced number plate recognition cameras.
“Customers who shop at Booths Keswick are entitled to one hour of free parking. The first hour is free, with no ticket or purchase required. There is an option to purchase a second hour of parking on site via a card payment terminal or via the Evology app.
“Those visiting the store cafe are entitled to an additional hours of free parking. They can either request a barcode to scan at the external payment terminal on exit or enter your vehicle reg details at the till point on the tablet provided for cafe customers only.
“The car park is free of charge from 7pm to midnight to support local businesses.”
Meanwhile, next month works starts on the new clubhouse at Keswick Rugby Club which will mean that the asphalt covered 30-space car park will be closed to vehicles. The 200-space hard-standing car park will remain open.
A club spokesman said that number plate recognition cameras had been erected there because so many people were parking and not paying.
