Keswick Football Club’s men’s team players had their shooting boots on as they hit Cockermouth Reserves for six in last weekend’s Conway Cup tie at Crosthwaite Road.
Putting a difficult start to their Cumberland County League top flight season to one side on Saturday, Keswick won 6-0 in the second round fixture against Cockermouth’s newly-formed second string from the division below.
Luke Mason scored twice for the home side with one apiece for Alfie West, Jamie Little and Charlie Robson, and an own goal by the visitors also counted.
This was Keswick’s first win in three matches and they will aim to make it two on the trot on Saturday (September 28) as they travel to Whitehaven Miners Social in the county league Premier Division (2pm kick-off). Both sides have one victory and three points on the board so far, Keswick having played six games and the West Cumbrians four.
Meanwhile manager John Philips has thanked Universal Competitions for providing Keswick players with polo shirts, and also the town’s Twa Dogs for sponsoring individual kit bags.
