
Exam results achieved by the students at Keswick School have been recognised as being the best in Cumberland and one of the highest in the North West of England.
The achievement has been recognised with the publication by the government of GCSE performance data from this summer’s exams for all secondary schools, sixth forms and colleges.
The exam performance data caps an excellent year for the school which also achieved outstanding school and boarding Ofsted inspections.
The data also reflects the high-quality curriculum on offer at Keswick School and the rigour with which students are prepared for public exams.
The data published for the school is:
- Progress 8 score = 0.39 (significantly above average) This compared to the Cumbria state-funded schools average progress 8 score of -0.18
- Attainment 8 score = 54.1. This compares to the local authority average of 42.3
- Grade 5 or above in English and Maths = 65.6 per cent. This compares to the local authority average of 38.4 per cent.
- Ninety-one per cent of students achieved a grade four or above in both English and Maths.
- Entering the EBacc (English Baccalaureate) = 68.4 per cent. This compares to the local authority average of 32.1 per cent.
- EBacc average point score = 5.19. This compares to the local authority average of 3.75.
- A value-added score in languages of 1.2 (which reflects the school’s position as a language hub and will be one of the highest value-added scores in the country.
This exam data is for a Year 11 cohort of 209 students. It reflects the outstanding attitude of students along with teaching staff who go the extra mile to ensure that every student is well supported.
