Six months after opening Keswick’s Premier Inn appears to be thriving.
Manager Karl Hetherington says that the hotel has been busy since opening and is trading in line with the chain’s average national occupancy which is a little over 80 per cent.
Mr Hetherington says that the hotel is fully staffed although some people have moved on since opening as is always the case in the hospitality industry.
But he added that he had not experienced any issues finding replacements when people have left.
A spokesperson for Premier Inn said visitors to the hotel are in line with the company’s customer base – domestic travellers on leisure and business trips.
Mr Hetherington said that some guests were relatively local and using the hotel as a base to experience the Lake District, as well as being drawn from further afield.
“As we anticipated, given the hotel’s location, our guests are making use of Keswick’s attractions and food scene when they stay – supporting local businesses,” added the Premier Inn spokesperson.
