Television news anchor Dan Walker has paid a repeat visit to the crazy golf course at Keswick’s Hope Park and skilfully accomplished what he describes could quite possibly be his “greatest sporting achievement”.
The former BBC Breakfast presenter, who now reads the Channel 5 evening news, boasted on social media about how he scored 10 holes-in-one as he racked up a nine-under-par 27 on the 18-hole course – which is four shots better than the score of just 31 which he achieved on his last visit in 2022.
In a social media post he said: “Forget the Open and the Olympics…huge moment at Hope Park Crazy Golf in Keswick today…I managed to pick up the Family and Friends Trophy with a 9-under-par 27 (10 holes-in-one and 4 shots better than our last visit in 2022).”
He added that his son started with four straight holes-in-one but he “managed to reel him in”.
“The four-year-old in the group behind us made a complaint about slow play and the assembled kids didn’t want to be in the victory photo, but this might go down as my greatest sporting achievement.”
But he also played a round of crazy golf at Hope Park where he scored eight holes-in-one. Dan’s card showed that he nailed holes-in-one at 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 13, 15 and 17. His only major blip was a four at the tricky 12th.
It was reported at the time that the course record holder was Keswick golfer Gary Larkham, who had scored an amazing 29. But if Dan’s score stands then he becomes the new record holder.
