Problems with Keswick’s Christmas lights has led to the town council fielding lots of complaints – but the issues have now been resolved.
At Lake Road, a wire had wrapped itself around the George Fisher swinging sign in high wind, and had tripped those lights. That section has been replaced, and alterations made to ensure that it doesn’t happen again.
There was also a timer issue on the climber on the Moot Hall, which has been resolved.
The biggest issue turned out to be that there was a fault in the Merry Christmas from Keswick sign in Market Square, which in the heavy rain had let water in, and was tripping the system. The sign has been removed and engineers from Lite Ltd were due to fix the problem yesterday afternoon.
“We have had to field a lot of complaints, as you might imagine,” said Keswick Town Council clerk Vivien Little. “Keswick’s lights are a popular tourist attraction, and them not being on has been a disappointment to many.”
