Cumbrian authors and broadcast journalists are heading to the first ever Kirkgate Book Festival in Cockermouth this weekend.
The one-day event is at the Kirkgate Arts and Heritage Centre on Saturday, March 25.
Jonathan Blake, a political correspondent with the BBC, will be in conversation with Marion Bowman, former chair of Kirkgate Arts and Heritage, who has worked for Channel 4 and ITV.
A number of authors who have books about Cumbria or are set in the county will be taking part.
These include Paul Eastham, Christine Raafat and, Cockermouth’s Chris Wadsworth on her memoir Life Class: Memoir of an Accidental Gallerist.
Millie Hardy-Sims and Laura Noakes will be talking about their books.
Nick Taylor, an English teacher at Cockermouth School, will present a category dedicated to young people, and Fiona Armstrong, broadcaster and writer, will discuss the Lakeland Book of the Year Award. Other authors featured include Harry Navinsky and Ruth Sutton.
